Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #9

Hi, everyone !!

With all the interest & excitement surrounding the recent announcement from Roku that the rollout of the "New Roku Experience" is to (finally) reach UK shores and, more importantly, UK Roku players... it can hardly come as a surprise to learn that there has (again) been a slight lack of activity, when it comes to the subject of new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store during the past week.

Fortunately, we didn't strike out completely and I do have details of SOME NEW ADDITIONS to bring you, as you will discover by reading further. Meanwhile, as well as the new channels, we've also had some new readers coming to this blog. So, before we go any further with this 'Weekly RoundUp', I'd like to extend a warm welcome to those new readers, who have all taken the time to visit these pages during the past seven days, or so. In that time, there has been interest from as far afield as Albania, Iran and Saudi Arabia, to name but a few.

To this recent influx of new readers, and to everyone else who continues to read my Roku-related ramblings, I'd just like to say... "Thanks for stopping by" & long may you continue to do so.

Right, now that I've finished with the greetings... let's get on with bringing you the all important details for the current 'Weekly RoundUp' of NEW ADDITIONS to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. This time, there are just TWO NEW CHANNELS which have been added during the past seven days. Both of the latest additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store provide FRESH CONTENT to the Religion & Spirituality genre (i.e. category).

In keeping with previous installments from the 'Weekly RoundUp' series, details of the two new channels have been listed below, together with links to obtain further information {by clicking on the channel name(s) beneath the channel icon(s) pictured}. Unfortunately, there were no 'Roku Guide' reviews available for either one although, as always, any costs involved have been included too.

BLESSING TV.......................................................................................................COST: FREE

N.B. Since this channel does not currently feature in the Roku (USA) Channel Store, the link above is for the Official Website of Blessing TV; the full viewing schedule for which can be found via THIS LINK. The Blessing TV Roku channel also features a SUB-CHANNEL called Blessing Kids TV and all content on the main channel & sub-channel(s) is geared towards speakers of the Indian Tamil language. If you visit the Blessing TV website, you will find all of their contact information PLUS links to details of upcoming events & an opportunity to make prayer requests, etc. The channel was developed for Roku by Cherri Technologies who are a Web Development company, based in Pondicherry & Chennai, in India. You can also connect with Cherri Technologies via the developer's Twitter Feed: @CherriTechnolog if you'd like to know more about their current / future plans for Roku channels and/or web development. Additionally, and no doubt due (again) to the fact that the Blessing TV channel has not yet been added to the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store, there is no Roku Guide Review available. If this situation changes, I will add a link to this post.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The Roku UK Channel Store description states that the content of this channel is suitable for "ALL AGES". The channel details go on to suggest that the "SERVICE MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL FEES" although, I have to say that, ALL of the CURRENT CONTENT found on the Blessing TV channel is FREE TO VIEW. This does, however, suggest that PAID CONTENT may be added at some time in the future. Details to follow, as and when...

PURE PASSION WORLD.....................................................................................COST: FREE

N.B. Since this channel does not currently feature in the Roku (USA) Channel Store, the link above is for the official channel description from the website of Lightcast.com; who are credited as developer of the 'Pure Passion World' channel & many other religious-themed channels for the Roku streaming media player (e.g. Evangel Temple, Keys To Kingdom Living, Hal Brady Ministries, NAMS Network, Living Word Family Church, River Of Life, The Messianic Channel, etc). Anyone interested can see a complete list of all their "Featured Roku Channels" by following THIS LINK.

Meanwhile, if you visit the Lightcast.com website, you will find all of their contact information PLUS full details of their company, services & resources. You can also connect with Lightcast.com via the developer's Twitter Feed: @lightcast_inc if you'd like to know more about their current / future plans for Roku channel development. As mentioned (briefly) above, and no doubt due (again) to the fact that the 'Pure Passion World' channel has not yet been added to the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store, there is (currently) no Roku Guide Review available. If at some time in the future, however, this situation changes, I will add all missing links to this post.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The Roku UK Channel Store description states, "CONTENT NOT RATED", for this channel. However the details also indicate that the content offers "Biblical solutions for sexual brokenness of every kind" and "Covers every area of sexuality" so, therefore, parental discretion may be advisable for this channel, especially if you consider the ADULT-THEMED subject matter for the majority of the included videos.

LANGUAGE OPTIONS: Any UK Roku owners who are fluent in either the Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Romanian or Bulgarian languages may be pleased to learn that the 'Pure Passion World' channel has an assortment of SUB-CHANNELS that cater to speakers of all those languages, as well as to English-speaking viewers. This is a nice touch, given our multi-cultural society.

Anyway, I'm afraid to say, that is your lot for this week and, whilst it doesn't quite the match-up to the seven channels which made it into the Roku USA Channel Store during the same time-frame, I always think it's better to have TWO NEW CHOICES than none at all, don't you ?!!

Still, if you are of a religious persuasion or happen to be fluent in any of the Russian, Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Romanian, Bulgarian & Indian Tamil languages, then you might find something you like from the pair of channels outlined above. If not, then just pay us a visit another time when, with any luck, there will be something more to your liking. Afterall, there's no point adding every channel because, as I've said before, when it comes to installing new channels on your Roku media player, IT'S YOUR CHOICE and, as with all things Roku... THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS !!

So, be sure to come back in seven days' time for my next 'Weekly RoundUp' and, if you can't wait that long, remember you can always keep up with the UK Roku action (as it happens) throughout the coming week, by following our Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels where up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related (here in the UK) is posted on a daily basis (well, almost).

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
