UK Roku Private Channel - My Channels (Alternative Home Screen Organizer & Channel Launcher)

Whoah... WHAT was THAT ??!!!!!!

I'm guessing it must have been the collective sigh of relief that, after several weeks of going without, you're all about to get details of ANOTHER PRIVATE CHANNEL to add to your Roku player(s) !!

So, "What is that channel?", I hear you ask. Well, if you are among those who regularly read this blog, then you may have spotted THIS COMMENT from myself to another of my blog readers, by the name of 'Jim', concerning my immense dissatisfaction with the "New Roku Experience" as applied to all UK Roku players recently. Although, in the heat of the moment, I was going to ask Roku to ROLL BACK my software to the previous version, I thought it best to first live with the "New Roku Experience" for a while and then re-assess my feelings, before making a final decision on the matter at a later date. Having lived with the "New Roku Experience" for just over a month now, I've long since convinced myself that the BEST WAY TO VIEW "My Channels" is NOT TO USE the "Official" Roku Home Screen sub-menu which goes by that name.

"And, why's that?", you might ask. Well, the "New Roku Experience" means that, whilst you do get MORE CHANNEL ICONS ONSCREEN, they are only afforded about 60% of the available screen "real estate". This is because Roku, in their infinite (LACK OF) wisdom, decided to give the other 40% over to a GIANT ADVERTISING BANNER which, needless to say, has proved to be EXTREMELY UNPOPULAR with a lot of Roku owners (including myself). I mean, you've only got to scan through the 100+ COMMENTS on the official Roku Blog post, "Rolling out the new Roku interface", from last month to notice the overwhelming reaction to it. Fortunately, however,  help was at hand in the form of a vital component from my own (existing) Roku channel selection (which was installed LONG BEFORE the latest software update), as you are soon about to discover...

As mentioned in the previous paragraph, the idea for choosing this particular private channel was born out of my frustration with the effective LOSS OF FUNCTIONALITY afforded my Roku player, courtesy of the recent "upgrade" (ahem) to the "New Roku Experience" which, for UK Roku owners, was akin to being lumbered with the POOR RELATION of the FEATURE RICH software rollout that was applied to USA Roku players. In particular, this "New Roku Experience" has SEVERELY LIMITED the way in which Roku owners can utilize both the "FWD SCAN" and "REV SCAN" buttons for "Faster Menu Scrolling", as demonstrated in my "Roku Tips, Tricks & Tweaks - #2" post, which can be FOUND HERE. This feature would allow you to zip through your channels FIVE TIMES FASTER by advancing one page (formerly 5 channels) at a time, instead of just one channel at a time (as you would with the left/right directional buttons).

Laughably, trying to do the same thing in the "My Channels"sub-menu of the "New Roku Experience" main menu, means you can advance ONLY THREE CHANNELS in either direction and, TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, you can do that ON ONLY ONE LINE (equivalent to three channels) of the nine-channel grid. So, instead of simply pressing "FWD SCAN" six times in a row, to advance 30 channels in either direction (as previously), you now have to press the "DOWN" button ten times OR keep it pressed and wind up draining your battery faster, in order to perform the same task. Moreover, that is a best case scenario because, with the "New Roku Experience", to do it using the "FWD SCAN" or "REV SCAN" buttons would require TWENTY BUTTON PRESSES comprised of alternating "FWD SCAN" or "REV SCAN" with the "DOWN" button, the equivalent of ten times each.

Like I say, however, help is at hand because THERE IS ANOTHER WAY to access your own "custom" channel selection (aka "My Channels" in the main Roku menu). This "other way" even allows you to CREATE NEW CATEGORIES and ORGANIZE YOUR CHANNELS just the way you want them. Better still, there's NO ADVERTISING AT ALL and you STILL HAVE ACCES TO "Faster Menu Scrolling" to zip through all of your channels FIVE TIMES FASTER using the "FWD SCAN" and "REV SCAN" buttons. What is more, ALL THESE ADDED BENEFITS come courtesy of JUST ONE CHANNEL and that is precisely what is on offer via this blog today !!

This particular channel cannot be found in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store, however, because it is another of those so-called Roku private channels, or Roku hidden channels (if you prefer). As I have said before, these hidden Roku channels are a GREAT WAY of broadening the selection of Roku channels UK users can add to their Roku players. So why not take this opportunity, to expand your Roku UK channel list, by adding more functionality to your Roku player & dramatically improving the way you make your channel selection? "And how might I do that?", I hear you ask...

Well, this private Roku channel is one of those Roku UK channels that is most likely to appeal to Roku owners who want to organize their channels themselves for easy viewing, without any additional onscreen clutter (i.e. advertising), and with the ability to access those channels fast. More specifically, it is a "Home Screen Organizer" par excellence meaning those of you who enjoy tinkering with your Roku player setup (whether it's adding your own custom categories, moving channels from one category to another, or even completely re-ordering your categories onscreen) then you will no doubt be overjoyed that there is finally a channel for Roku UK which does just that.

"So, what's the name of this channel?", I hear you ask. Well, if it was "My Channels" (as featured in the main menu of the "New Roku Experience") which created the problem, then what better than a private channel by the same name to fix things?!! Yes, it's true... if you haven't already figured it out (from the title of this very post) the (rather confusingly named) "My Channels" Home Screen Organizer & Channel Launcher is the NEW ROKU PRIVATE CHANNEL on offer to you today.

Anyway, like any of the other hidden Roku channels, you will need to enter one of the private channel codes for Roku (which I'll reveal to you later in the post). Those of you who have previous experience of 'Adding a Private Channel' to your Roku player(s) can skip the next two or three paragraphs, and rejoin the text slightly after the 'Add Channel' image, but IF THIS IS ALL NEW TO YOU... then I've outlined the necessary steps below:-

As always, when you must enter an invitation code to add a private or beta channel to your player, you will first need to sign in to your Roku Account online. Then, you will need to scroll about halfway down the page until you see the section headed "Manage Account". Below that is a link, in blue type, which says "Add a Private Channel" which you must click on to enter the Roku private channel code.

Having clicked on the "Add a Private Channel" link, you will be taken to a page headed "Add Channel"... below which, is a message inviting you to "Enter a channel access code to add a public channel, a private channel or a beta channel to your Roku account". Underneath that is a text entry box, where you will need to type the private channel access code (which, as I said, I'll reveal to you later in this post) and then it's just a matter of clicking the blue "Add Channel" button.

Once the hidden channel code for the "My Channels" private Roku channel has been successfully entered, you should then be greeted by the following on-screen message:-

HINT: Click on the above image to ENLARGE IT for easier viewing

You must then decide whether to install the "My Channels" private channel on your Roku player, by clicking the "Yes, Add Channel" button, or to simply "Cancel" and return to the previous screen.

Assuming that you do install the channel, you should then see it listed alongside all the other channels (both private and those from the channel store) which have been added to your Roku player. Look for the "My Channels" channel icon (as pictured above) as you scroll through your list of channels and you should soon find it there. HINT: To reach any newly installed channels on your Roku player, in the shortest possible time, you should first access the "Official" built-in "My Channels" sub-menu, by pressing the "HOME" button on your Roku remote, then press the "OK" button to enter that sub-menu, followed by the "UP" directional button. You should now see your recently added channel (in this case, the "My Channels" Roku private channel) in the currently selected line of the channel grid.

When you first load the "My Channels" Roku private channel, to make your viewing selection, you will find that the main menu is (initially) comprised of just a few headings: All Channels; Most Popular Channels, and; Recently Launched Channels, all three of which are integral to the workings of the "My Channels" private channel. To begin with, however, it is only the "All Channels" category which is populated. This is done in the form of a scrollable list of channel icons for EVERY CHANNEL that is installed on your Roku player, PLUS two extra channel icons: one for the "Roku Channel Store" and one for "Play On Roku". For that reason, the channel count (in the TOP RIGHT corner of the screen) will always indicate TWO MORE CHANNELS than are actually installed on your Roku player.

The categories for "Most Popular Channels" and "Recently Launched Channels" will begin to populate as soon as you begin to use the "My Channels" private channel to access your custom channel selection (as found under the "All Channels" category). PLEASE NOTE:- This only applies to channels that are selected and launched from within the "My Channels" private channel. DO NOT EXPECT the categories for "Most Popular Channels" and "Recently Launched Channels" to be populated by channel selections made elsewhere on your Roku player (e.g. from the "Official" built-in "My Channels" sub-menu on the main menu of your Roku player, or from channels launched directly from within the Channel Store using "Go To Channel" with any installed channel). In other words, for the "My Channels" private channel to function at it's most effective level, you must get into the habit of accessing, choosing and launching your channels from within the sub-menu categories, or "Channel Groups", of the "My Channels" private channel, itself.

Once you have launched five or six different channels from the "All Channels" sub-menu (i.e. category) of the "My Channels" private channel, both "Most Popular Channels" and "Recently Launched Channels" should include the respective channel icons for the same five or six channels that you launched from "All Channels". Initially, these sub-menus (i.e. categories) will contain the same channel icons but, as you start to use certain channels more than others, the "My Channels" private channel will "learn" from your channel selections and the content of your "Most Popular Channels" and "Recently Launched Channels" will begin to differ. WHAT IS REALLY GREAT about having these sub-menus (i.e. categories) populated IS THE DIFFERENCE it makes TO THE OVERALL LOOK of your screen. Instead of just nine channels in a grid, occupying only 60% of the screen, plus a gigantic advertisement using up the remaining 40% of your screen space, YOU NOW GET A GRID WITH FIFTEEN CHANNELS and, best of all, NO ADVERTISING to restrict your viewing area, as with the official built-in "My Channels" sub-menu on your Roku player.

But wait, there's more...

The "My Channels" private channel also allows you to CREATE YOUR OWN CATEGORIES by incorporating additional functionality into the "OPTIONS" button. That's the one with the "Asterisk" (or, if you prefer, "Star" shaped) symbol, which looks like this: "*". To create a new category, you must first pick ANY CHANNEL from ANY SUB-MENU (i.e. channel group / category) of the "My Channels" private channel by navigating to it using the UP/DOWN and/or LEFT/RIGHT directional buttons. Once your desired channel is highlighted, you will see a "Speech Bubble" with the channel name and version number. Having confirmed it is the correct channel for your new category, PRESS THE "OPTIONS" BUTTON on your Roku remote, to reveal an "Options" sub-menu similar to this:-

HINT: Click on the above image to ENLARGE IT for easier viewing

As you can see, there is a list of options allowing you to:-

  • CREATE A NEW CHANNEL GROUP
  • MOVE THE 'XXXXXX' GROUP
  • ADD 'YYYYYY' TO ANOTHER GROUP

In the sample screenshot image (above) the channel group 'XXXXXX', which contained my chosen channel 'YYYYYY', refers to the "Most Popular Channels" group and the "TuneIn Radio" channel. To illustrate the various functions of the "My Channels" private channel, I will continue to reference the same channel & group whilst creating a NEW CHANNEL GROUP called "Radio", which I intend to use for quick & easy reference to all of the installed radio channels on my Roku player.

To achieve this, you must first choose to "CREATE A NEW CHANNEL GROUP", by selecting the FIRST OPTION from the "Options" sub-menu (using the UP/DOWN buttons on your Roku remote) and then pressing the "OK" button, which will re-direct you to a text-entry screen where you must "Enter the name of the channel group you want to create". The text-entry screen looks like this:-

HINT: Click on the above image to ENLARGE IT for easier viewing

TECH TIP: If you are not already aware of it, onscreen TEXT OR DATA ENTRY using the supplied Roku remote that comes with your Roku player CAN BE TIME-CONSUMING, not to mention a bit fiddly, and often frustrating. TO AVOID THIS and make the task of creating a new channel group altogether more enjoyable & far less tiresome, I RECOMMEND USING THE ROKU APP for either Apple iOS (iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch) or Android which will permit you to use the touch-screen keyboard of your chosen device to enter the text/data much more quickly and easily.

You can download the Apple iOS Roku App HERE

OR

You can download the Android Roku App HERE

Whichever way you do it, once you've entered the name for the channel group you want to create (i.e. "Radio" as mentioned in the example above) you then need to navigate to the bottom right of the screen (using the UP/DOWN directional buttons), where there are two options ('OK' or 'Cancel'). Select "OK" to create a new channel group with the name you just entered, or "Cancel" to errr... cancel (ahem) !!

Once the NEW CHANNEL GROUP has been created (in this case the "Radio" group) you must then populate the group by making your channel selection (here, it will be an assortment of radio channels) from ANY SUB-MENU (i.e. channel groups / categories) of the "My Channels" private channel. These must be added to your new channel group (i.e. the "Radio" group, in this instance) by selecting them ONE-AT-A-TIME and using the ADD 'YYYYYY' TO ANOTHER GROUP function from the same "OPTIONS" MENU as before. This process will be described in more detail later in this article. For now, I will continue with the 2nd function listed in the "OPTIONS" MENU, as follows...

The second function is to "MOVE THE 'XXXXXX' GROUP", where 'XXXXXX' refers to the existing channel group containing the channel you selected. Until you have created a few new groups of your own, this will most likely refer to "All Channels" (as will be used in the screenshot below, to illustrate this function) although ANY CHANNEL GROUP CAN BE SELECTED AND MOVED if need be (this includes both "Most Popular Channels and "Recently Launched Channels". The idea of this, is to be able to re-order your channel groups (from top to bottom) so that, as you scroll up & down the screen, they will appear in your preferred sequence.

If you choose to "MOVE THE 'XXXXXX' GROUP", by first selecting that option (using the UP/DOWN buttons) and then pressing the "OK" button, you will be re-directed to a smaller sub-screen where you will be asked to "Please select the position you would like 'XXXXXX' to be moved to". The "Change Group Position" screen will look like this:-

HINT: Click on the above image to ENLARGE IT for easier viewing

As can be seen from the above screenshot image, the actual position of the channel group is indicated by a number, next to where it says "New Position". The available options to change this numeric value will correspond directly with the number of channel groups present at any given time. To place a channel group at the top of the list, the "New Position" should be set to "1" and the next channel, moving down the list, should be given the "New Position" of 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. up to and equal to the total number of available channel groups. For example, if you had five channel groups, you would assign a "New Position" value of "1" to the channel group you wished to be at the top of the list and a "New Position" value of "5" to the channel group you wished to be at the bottom of the list.

Basically, you would use any combination of the "Move Down" or "Move Up" options to arrive at your chosen "New Position" value, before selecting "OK" to save that particular setting. Of course, if you made a mistake or decided not to change the position of the channel group, there is also the option to "Cancel" if need be. My personal preference is to keep the "All Channels" group at the top of the screen, with my other categories below it, so that is why I chose to assign a "New Position" value of "1" to the channel group in this example.

The last option is for you to "ADD 'YYYYYY' TO ANOTHER GROUP", where 'YYYYYY' refers to the particular channel you selected. Not only is this function important for the creation & population of new channel groups but it allows for any channel to be added to as many groups as you choose. This is really useful, if your partner & yourself wish to create your own individual channel selections but there are certain channels which you both want in your own category. Fortunately, the ability to add the same channels to multiple channel groups (i.e. "genres" or "categories", if you prefer) means that there's no need to fight over whose channel group includes Netflix (for example) because YOU CAN BOTH ADD IT TO YOUR CHANNEL GROUP without a problem. It still doesn't solve the issue over who gets the remote, unfortunately, so play fair and share it equally !! ;-)

If you decide to "ADD 'YYYYYY' TO ANOTHER GROUP", by selecting that option (using the UP/DOWN buttons) and then pressing the "OK" button, you will be re-directed to a smaller sub-screen where you will be asked to "Please select the group you would like 'YYYYYY' added to". The "Add Channel to Group" screen will look like this:-

HINT: Click on the above image to ENLARGE IT for easier viewing

As can be seen from the above screenshot image, the actual position of the channel group is indicated by a group name, next to where it says "Add channel to group". The available options to change this will depend upon, and be equal to, the number of channel groups on your Roku player. To find and select the channel group that you wish to add your chosen channel to, simply use the "Change Group" option (pressing repeatedly) until you arrive at your desired channel group, before selecting "OK" to save that particular setting. Of course, if you make a mistake or decide not to add your chosen channel to a particular channel group, there is also the option to "Cancel" if need be. My personal preference is to add "TuneIn Radio" to my newly created "Radio" group, so that is why I chose to "Add channel to group" by the name of "Radio" in this example.

Once you have created a few new channel groups, you will find that there are several other options available to you for customising those groups. PLEASE NOTE:- These options are AVAILABLE FOR NEWLY CREATED CHANNEL GROUPS ONLY. In other words, you won't be able to access them from any of the built-in channel groups (i.e. "All Channels", "Most Popular Channels" and "Recently Launched Channels") but, rather, from any NEW CHANNEL GROUPS which YOU HAVE CREATED to be part of the "My Channels" private channel on your Roku player.

Using the "TuneIn Radio" channel, which can now be accessed from my newly created "Radio" channel group, as an example... TO ACCESS these "OTHER" OPTIONS you will first need to SELECT A CHANNEL (in this case the "TuneIn Radio" channel) FROM one of your NEWLY CREATED CHANNEL GROUPS (in this case the "Radio" group) and, just as before, PRESS THE "OPTIONS" BUTTON on your Roku remote. Doing so will open up another "Options" sub-menu, which will look something like this:-

HINT: Click on the above image to ENLARGE IT for easier viewing

As with the original selection of "Options", you are (again) offered the chance to "Create a new channel group" from your (currently) selected channel 'YYYYYY' (in this case the "TuneIn Radio" channel) as well as to "Move the 'XXXXXX' group" (in this case the "Radio" group). However, you will see that there are TWO ADDITIONAL GROUP FUNCTIONS allowing you to:-

    1. REMOVE THE 'XXXXXX' GROUP, and;
    2. RENAME THE 'XXXXXX' GROUP.

Similarly, whilst you are (again) offered the chance to "Add 'YYYYYY' to another group" (in this case referring to the "TuneIn Radio" channel), there are TWO ADDITIONAL CHANNEL FUNCTIONS allowing you to:-

    1. REMOVE 'YYYYYY' FROM THIS GROUP, and;
    2. CHANGE 'YYYYYY' POSITION WITHIN THIS GROUP.

Fortunately, BOTH "REMOVE" FUNCTIONS (listed above) will result in a prompt screen that will first REQUIRE YOU TO CONFIRM THE ACTION before it is completed. This ensures that you cannot easily remove a channel from a group or, perhaps more importantly, remove an entire group of channels from your "My Channels" private channel "Home Screen" without first confirming (via an additional button press) your intention is to do just that. In layman's terms, "it's been idiot-proofed", in so far as it is reasonable to do so !!

The option to "RENAME THE 'XXXXXX' GROUP" will, if selected, result in your being redirected to a text-entry screen akin to that which greets you when you opt to "CREATE A NEW CHANNEL GROUP" (as outlined above). Here, you have the chance to enter a new name for the channel group you are currently accessing (i.e. "Radio" as mentioned in the example above). You may wish to rename it "Music", for example. Anyway, once you have decided on your new name you then need to navigate to the bottom right of the screen (using the UP/DOWN directional buttons), where there are two options ('OK' or 'Cancel'). Select "OK" to rename the current channel group (i.e. the "Radio" group) with the name you just entered (i.e. "Music", in this instance), or "Cancel" to errr... cancel !!

The option to "CHANGE 'YYYYYY' POSITION WITHIN THIS GROUP" will, as you might have expected, result in your being redirected to a similar screen to the "Change Group Position" screen that greets you when you choose to "MOVE THE 'XXXXXX' GROUP" (as outlined above). The main difference you will notice here is that, rather than a combination of "Move Down" or "Move Up", you have the option to "Move Left" or "Move Right".  Likewise, the actual position of the channel within the group is (again) indicated by a number, next to where it says "New Position". However, any increment or decrement will result in a left-to-right, or right-to-left, movement as opposed to up or down. The available options to change this numeric value will (as before) correspond directly with the number of channels present within the group at any given time. To place a channel to the left of the group list, the "New Position" should be set to "1" and the next channel, moving to the right (across the group list), should be given the "New Position" of 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. up to and equal to the total number of channels in that particular group. For example, if you had five channels in your chosen group, you would assign a "New Position" value of "1" to the channel you wished to be on the far left-hand side of the group list and a "New Position" value of "5" to the channel you wanted on the far right-hand side.

Basically, you would use any combination of the "Move Left" or "Move Right" options to arrive at your chosen "New Position" value, before selecting "OK" to save that particular setting. Of course, if you made a mistake or decided not to change the position of the channel within the group, there is also the option to "Cancel" if need be. My personal preference is to keep the channels in alphabetical order within each group so that it's easier to know where to find a channel within it's group. You, on the other hand, may decide to keep your favourite channel(s) from a particular group beside each other on the left-hand side of the group list, for easy access. Essentially, there is more than one workable option here so it's up to you to figure out what is best for you.

Now that you know what this ESSENTIAL ROKU PRIVATE CHANNEL is capable of, you just need to ask yourself WHICH of these "Home Screen" views WOULD YOU PREFER to look at?

    (i) You can stick with the "Official" Roku "My Channels" sub-menu, with a viewable onscreen grid of ONLY NINE CHANNELS WITH A GIANT AD BANNER ALONGSIDE like this:-

HINT: Please DO NOT click on the above image... the annoying ad will only look BIGGER !!

(ii) DARE TO BE DIFFERENT and go with the "Alternative" Roku private channel "Home Screen Organizer & Channel Launcher" also called (somewhat confusingly) "My Channels", with a viewable onscreen grid of FIFTEEN CHANNELS WITH NO GIANT AD BANNER like this:-

HINT: Click on this & ENLARGE IT as much as you like... there's NO ADS HERE !!

Opt for the latter, and what you will get is the look and feel of something more akin to the previous "Official" Roku Channel Store version (BEFORE the advent of the "New Roku Experience", that is) and, BETTER YET, you can CUSTOMISE IT to your taste & ADD YOUR OWN CATEGORIES !!

So, as you can see, the "My Channels" private channel is THE IDEAL SOLUTION when it comes TO FINDING THE CHANNEL YOU WANT TO WATCH and enables you to do so FASTER, as well as MORE EASILY plus, perhaps best of all, WITHOUT ANY ADVERTISING getting in your way.  The "My Channels" private channel functions as both a "Home Screen" channel organizer and a fast, effective channel launcher for all of your channels. It allows you to sort all of the channels currently installed on your Roku player into logical channel groups, giving you faster & easier access to all of your favorites. You can ADD AS MANY CHANNEL GROUPS AS YOU WANT, not forgetting that ANY CHANNEL can be IN AS MANY GROUPS AS YOU WANT and, better still, you can arrange the channels so that ANY CHANNEL can be IN ANY POSITION WITHIN A GROUP or, if need be, ANY CHANNEL CAN BE REMOVED FROM A GROUP at any time. Furthermore, ANY CHANNEL GROUP that you create CAN BE MOVED, as well as REMOVED or even RENAMED, if you so choose. Even finding channels within a channel group is easier with the "My Channels" private channel because it STILL ALLOWS FOR FASTER MENU SCROLLING using the "FWD SCAN" and/or "REV SCAN" buttons for 5 X FASTER SCROLLING functionality.

In fact, THE ONLY THING I WOULD CHANGE about this private channel is to incorporate the channel details (i.e. the "Channel Name" & "Version Info") within the "Option" menu. The reason for that IS TO REMOVE THE "SPEECH BUBBLE" (from the currently selected channel) AND HAVE A MUCH CLEANER LOOK with only the multi-coloured band to highlight the currently selected channel. This would allow for a genuinely uncluttered look with A FIFTEEN CHANNEL VIEWABLE GRID on display, at all times, WITH NO OVERLAID CHANNEL INFO to obstruct two of the channel icons in the grid (as is presently the case). I'm fairly sure that this could be achieved with a simple change of coding to add an option such as "View Selected Channel Details" from which the "Channel Name" & "Version Info" could be displayed on-demand, if needed. For the most part, the channel icons used to represent their respective channels are sufficient to be able to recognize any given channel that you may have selected, so the "Speech Bubble" info (to me at least) is just overkill. That said, I would still rather have this private channel "as is" than to go without it because I really love the functionality of it and find it infinitely preferable to the "Official" look of 60% channel grid plus 40% advertising, in terms of the available screen real estate. I'm just saying, is all...

Anyway, to sum it up... if you want to have quick & easy access to your favorite channels on your Roku player, you cannot be without this private channel. INSTALL IT NOW... YOU WON'T REGRET IT !! So, if you like the sound of this truly functional, shouldn't be without it, fifteen channel grid, ad-free "Home Screen" channel organizer & super-fast channel launching private Roku channel (from what you've read here) then you will probably now want to add the "My Channels' private channel to your Roku streaming media player. In which case, you can do so easily (via your online Roku Account) by clicking on the following direct link:-

    ADD CHANNEL: My Channels

Alternatively, you can access your Roku Account online (without using the 'ADD CHANNEL' link, above) and from there, use the 'Add a Private Channel' option to then enter the access code manually, yourself. That being the case, the code you will need to type in is:-

    CODE: mychannels

If you'd like to know more about the developer of this channel: whether as an ecstatic Roku user, keen to discover other channels which may be available via the same source, or; as a potential future Roku developer (yourself), looking for advice on how to go about things... then you can do so easily, via the Official Website for 'The Endless', at:-

    DEVELOPER'S WEBSITE: The Endless

For those of you who may prefer to use Twitter to keep up with the latest news from this independent Roku channel developer, you can follow him at:-

    DEVELOPER'S TWITTER FEED: @TheEndlessDev

You can also provide feedback for this, or any of the other channels (both private & public), that have been developed by 'The Endless' for the Roku streaming media player, via his Forum:-

    DEVELOPER'S FORUM: The Endless (Forum)

If you do decide to get social with 'The Endless', please be sure to let him know that you heard about the "My Channels" Roku private channel here and tell him I said, "Hi". While you're there, remember to thank him for making his channel available to Roku users in the UK. Not forgetting it's also available in the Rest of the World, too (or so I'm led to believe). One last thing... as a favour to all non-USA Roku owners out there (including me) give 'The Endless' a nudge about updating the Coverage Area for his SHOUTcast Internet Radio channel, so that all Roku owners can benefit !!

Meanwhile, if this particular channel was not your cup of tea (so-to-speak), just remember to visit this blog again at sometime in the future, when there will be plenty more Roku channel codes for you to read about & try out on your Roku streaming media players. For, when it comes to publishing details of all UK Roku Private Channels, UK Roku Hidden Channels, UK Roku Beta Channels and 'Other' Roku channels... call them what you will, they will ALL be found right here (alongside all of the other UK Roku-related goodness on offer), via the pages of this very blog.

Our continued aim is to provide details that are relevant to UK Roku users, with the further assurance that any Roku channel codes that are published here will always have been tested first on a UK Roku player. In this way, you know for certain that they will work on Roku streaming media players, here in the UK (at the time of publication) and that the code(s) used will have all resulted in an 'Add Channel' screen (as shown above) when entered via a UK Roku Account online.

So, when it comes to extending your Roku UK channel list, no matter whether it's by adding Roku private channels or any of the "Official" Roku channels 2013 may have to offer, you will always find the information needed for the Roku channels UK users can add to their players published right here. Suffice to say that no Roku channels UK list would be complete without at least one of the Roku hidden channels written about on this blog. In fact, when it comes to UK private Roku channels (specifically) there is no source more reliable for these hidden Roku channels and other new channels for Roku United Kingdom than what you find right here. With that in mind, be sure to visit this blog again soon if you want details on what UK Roku users can add to their Roku UK players.

Not forgetting (of course) that, as well as finding details of all the Roku Private Channels UK users can add to their Roku players, you will also be getting the scoop on all the latest additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. This comes to you, courtesy of our 'Weekly RoundUp' feature (published every Saturday) but, as readers of the Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #5 will no doubt attest, some weeks have fewer new channels than others !!

Still, that's about it for this post. There will be more articles on Roku UK coming to these pages sometime soon. Meanwhile, for those of you who are really into your Roku player(s), and don't want to miss a beat when it comes to Roku UK news and updates, may I suggest that you keep an eye on the associated Twitter Feed for this blog: @ukrokuchannels for all your interim Roku UK tweets.

    Until the next time, then...

    That's all folks !!

    1. Great write up of My Channels. Since it does not show Roku's ads, it kind of makes me wonder how long before Roku decides to kill it like they did the original Video Buzz channel.
