A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku - Day #1 HORRIFYING HALLOWE'EN SCREAMSAVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome, Boils & Ghouls...

... The 2013 Countdown To Hallowe'en has begun and what better way to get "A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku" started than by featuring a Hallowe'en ScreamSaver, complete with a spooky soundtrack, to keep you company while you plunder the catacombs to discover what unearthly delights await you from the other contributors to the 2013 Countdown To Hallowe'en ??!!!!!!

I figured, since I've got a month of posts to do based around the theme of Hallowe'en / Horror related Roku channels and/or content, it might be a good idea to have some suitably scary background audio to keep me in the "spirit" of things (sorry, couldn't resist that one!). Fortunately, as some of you may recall from my "Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #28" about two weeks ago, help is at hand in the shape of a recent addition to all Roku Channel Stores, called 'ScreamSaver' !!

Now, whilst this Hallowe'en-themed Roku channel can be found in the "Screensavers & Apps" genre (i.e. category) of the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store... I would (personally) hesitate to call it a screensaver (SIDE NOTE: the term 'ScreamSaver' is much better suited anyway) because, as far as I'm aware from my own limited use (to date) the on-screen image doesn't move or change in any way PLUS you need to actively load the channel yourself, as well as stop it if required, using your Roku remote whereas traditional screensavers are automated. However, since I'm not concerned with screen burn-in on the old TV beside my desk, and could easily re-route the audio from the composite AV out of my Roku 2 XS and switch off the TV screen (if that was an issue), I'm happy just to make use of the howling winds, barking dogs, maniacal laughter & eerie footsteps, etc. that make up the soundscape for this Hallowe'en ScreamSaver to just soak in the atmosphere as I dish out my daily dose of Roku-related Hallowe'en horrors for "A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku" throughout the coming month, right up to and including All Hallows Eve on 31st October 2013 !!

If, at this point, you're thinking that you probably won't have any use for this channel then you may wish to consider the suggestion from the 'Roku Guide Review' which proposes that you pipe the creepy soundtrack from this channel to some speakers outside your house & entertain the trick-or-treaters who come knocking at your door. Not a bad idea, that one !!

Meanwhile I must just give a quick mention to 8ctave ITV [aka Octave Television, or plain old 'Octave TV' for short], who are credited in the channel description from the Official Roku Website as the developer of this channel. If need be, you can contact them via their Twitter Feed: @octavetv or else, get social with them via: Octave Television (Facebook). Anyway, they describe their recent offering as "...the Perfect BlackDrop for Haunted House Parties". Certainly, if the menacing jack-o-lantern that can be seen casting it's evil eye over proceedings from your television screen is anything to go by... they may well be right about that. In fact, I'd better go & turn the television off right now... because it's beginning to creep me out quite a bit !!

For those of you who'd like to give this a go by adding it to the Hallowe'en entertainment on your Roku player(s) but are, perhaps, unable to access the Channel Store on your Roku at this time... you can take care of things now by LOGGING-IN to your Online Roku Account, scrolling down to the 'Manage Account' section, and using the "Add a Private Channel" option so that when you do have access to your Roku player, the 'ScreamSaver' will be already installed & waiting for you !! To achieve this, you must type the following access code into the data entry field and click the blue 'Add Channel' button:-

ACCESS CODE:- screamsaver

Anyway, that's pretty much all there is to it, except to point out that this 'ScreamSaver' has been given an average score of "4 out of 5" from 318 ratings (so far) in the channel store description on the Official Roku Website. That alone should be reason enough for you to at least give it a try !!

Plus, if this particular Hallowe'en / Horror themed Roku channel was not to your liking then FEAR NOT because there will be another one featured in tomorrow's post, continuing the month-long blogathon that is: "A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku"which will bring you more devilish delights EACH AND EVERY DAY from now UNTIL HALLOWE'EN arrives on 31st October !!

Fangs for stopping by !!
