Another CreatureFeature Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku - SPECIAL MONTH-LONG BLOGATHON PREVIEW

Hi, everyone !!

Well... would you believe it?! It's September 30th already and, as I'm sure you're aware, Autumn (or "Fall" as it's known to our friends across 'The Pond') is rapidly closing in (once again) which means, as it does so, the days are set to get shorter and the nights will grow longer... and darker !!!!!!!

One of the advantages of these long, dark nights is that they're perfect for huddling up and watching movies on your Roku player. I'm sure many Roku owners (myself included) will be enjoying the build up to Hallowe'en by watching something horror-related or slightly more scary than usual on their Roku player(s) as October 31st draws ever nearer...

If that sounds like you, then you may already be familiar with an annual online event which is known as the "Countdown To Hallowe'en" that encourages participants (i.e. bloggers) to contribute to a month-long blogging marathon in honour of the Hallowe'en season. I've long been a fan of this event but, since I only started my UK Roku blog in 2013, I made my debut as an "Official" 'Cryptkeeper' for the 'Countdown To Hallowe'en 2013' only last year. Fortunately, being an annual event, this fiendishly fun (and frightening) celebration has presented me with another prime opportunity to spotlight even more of the Hallowe'en / Horror themed Roku channels for you in the build-up to Hallowe'en 2014...

As with last year, owing to the fact that the series of posts I have planned will be devilishly different from my regular weekly offerings (not to mention a lot more frequent, too) I've decided to group them all under a unifying banner. However, instead of "A MummyVision Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku", I have decided to call it "Another CreatureFeature Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku" although I will still endeavour to bring you one post every day, throughout the month of October, culminating on 31st when the Countdown To Hallowe'en 2014 ends and the celebrations begin !!!

For quick & easy access to the official Countdown To Hallowe'en website which includes a list of all "Cryptkeepers" (i.e. contributing bloggers) for 2014 with yours truly (once again) among them, as well as details of all past contributors, you'll find the following badge with a built-in link to their website in the upper right hand column of my blog for the duration of the 2014 Countdown To Hallowe'en:-

Please make the effort to click on the badge and visit the Countdown To Hallowe'en website to show your support for this annual online Hallowe'en extravaganza PLUS don't forget to use the links you find there and check out all the other 'Cryptkeepers' taking part this year. I know they'll appreciate it if you visit their blogs & share your thoughts on the contribution(s) they've made.

For my part, albeit in a slightly different format to last year, I'll (once again) endeavour to post as much Hallowe'en / Horror related stuff as I can find within the hundreds of Roku channels available and from the huge amount of content contained therein. As before, I will try to ensure that as many of the featured channels as possible are available on UK Roku players however, due to the high percentage of readers from the USA for this blog, I reserve the right to also post about certain channels that may only be available there and not (currently) in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. Either way, rest assured there'll be PLENTY of Hallowe'en / Horror themed content FOR ALL ROKU OWNERS, no matter from where in the world they happen to hail.

Meanwhile, if there's any Roku Channel Developers or Content Providers who think that their channel would be worthy of inclusion in a series of articles such as these (i.e. with plenty of Hallowe'en / Horror related content) then please feel free to comment below or via the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels providing details of your channel / website & contact information. Your assistance with this is much appreciated although I cannot guarantee that every channel will be included as there is a finite number of posts that can be made. Don't let that put you off though because, if I can't squeeze you in this time around, then there's always the possibility of being included in next year's Countdown To Hallowe'en to look forward to !!

Anyway, I just wanted to give you all a "heads up" as to what I've got planned for this blog over the month of October. Of course, there will still be my regular 'Weekly RoundUp' posts to keep you informed of ALL NEW ADDITIONS to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store during that time. All of which means... that there's now even more reason(s) for you to visit this blog on a regular basis as you prepare for your own Roku-assisted Hallowe'en celebration(s)... Mwah-Ha-Haaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!

Still, that's about it for now... I hope to see most, if not all, of you back here tomorrow and each day throughout October as we bring you "Another CreatureFeature Guide To Hallowe'en On Roku" as part of the Countdown To Hallowe'en for 2014. Be afraid... BE VERY AFRAID !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just don't be too afraid to pay us another visit !!

That's all folks !!

Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #81

Hi, everyone !!

Those of you who read my previous post, namely "Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #80", will (perhaps) recall my mentioning that the annual "Countdown To Halloween" was fast approaching. Needless to say, it's now even closer and the eagle-eyed among you may well have spotted the new 'Cryptkeeper' badge for 2014 over to the right of the page. Now, if you read my post last week, you may also remember my talking about a NEW "Screambox" CHANNEL which, for a very reasonable $3.99 per month, promises "an all-you-can-kill menu" of the most terrifying horror programming from around the world... although, sadly, the channel had not yet been made available to UK Roku owners. Well, having contacted both the content provider, 'Screambox' (TWITTER FEED: @ScreamboxTV), and the developer who created the channel, '1 Mainstream' (TWITTER FEED: @OneMainstream), I have since heard the BAD NEWS is that UK Roku owners won't be watching 'Screambox' in the days and weeks leading up to Hallowe'en 2014. However, the GOOD NEWS is that the folks behind 'Screambox' do have plans to bring the channel to Roku players in the UK sometime next year. So, with any luck, we could be watching 'Screambox' in time for Hallowe'en 2015. Meanwhile, as I said before, it's probably a blessing that it's not available in the UK this year, as I really don't need any further obstacles preventing me from catching-up on the missing Roku-related news from this blog !!

Speaking of which, as mentioned previously, I have managed to remain up-to-date with all the latest additions to the "New" category of the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store during the past couple of months and it's now just a case of fleshing-out what's missing. As some of you will be aware, there are quite a few articles that I need to catch up on but, rather than post links for individual weeks, I'll simply refer you back to an earlier post, namely "Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #78", which contains all of the pertinent information you might need when researching back over the items in question. Again, I'm sorry this has continued to drag-on for longer than anticipated, and I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you in the meantime, but (all being well) things will be back up to speed before too long!

For now... all I can offer you (once more) is a brief summary of the latest channel additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store from the past seven days. As with my other recent posts, you can expect all the Roku-related news from this past week, along with details of any changes to the channel selection found on NowTV Boxes, to be added at some point in the near future. Until then... there's TEN NEW "Special Interest" CHANNELS in addition to FOUR NEW "Food" CHANNELS, as well as EXTRA "Music" / "Internet TV" / "Screensavers & Apps" CHANNELS, plus three MORE OPTIONS in the "News, Weather, Sport" category, among the selection of channels added in the week since my last post. Hopefully that will be enough to keep you occupied until I'm back on track again!

Anyway, with all of that Roku-related news still to follow, let's now press on with details for the current 'Weekly RoundUp' of NEW ADDITIONS to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store. This time, there are TWENTY NEW CHANNELS which have been added during the past seven days. These latest additions to the channel line-up have provided FRESH CONTENT in the News, Weather, Sport, Music, Internet TV, Food, Special Interest, plus Screensavers & Apps genres (i.e. categories).

In keeping with previous installments from the 'Weekly RoundUp' series, details of these new channels have all been listed below, together with links to obtain further information {by clicking on the channel name(s) beneath the respective channel icon(s) as pictured} and to read a 'Roku Guide' review with an independent (slightly more expansive) assessment of each one:-

*********************************************

Anyhow, like it or not, that is your lot for this week and, whilst it doesn't quite the match-up to the twenty-four channels which made it into the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store during the same time-frame, I always think it's better to have SOME NEW CHOICES than none at all, don't you ?!!

Still, hopefully everyone in the UK with a Roku player managed to find something they like within the twenty channels outlined above. If not, then you'll just have to pay us a visit another time when, with any luck, there will be something more to your liking. Afterall, there's no point installing every channel because, as I've said before, when it comes to adding new channels to your Roku player, IT'S YOUR CHOICE and, as with all things Roku... THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS !!

*********************************************

As mentioned earlier in this post, you can expect my usual summary of all the goings-on (or not) in the (severely restricted) Roku Channel Store that features on NowTV Boxes to follow in the near future. Meanwhile, whether you happen to own a Roku player, a NowTV Box, OR BOTH, as I do... be sure to check my previous posts (as mentioned above) for all the new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store in each of the eight preceding weeks and then come back again in seven days' time for my next 'Weekly RoundUp'. However, if you can't wait that long, remember you can always keep up with all the UK Roku action (as it happens) throughout the coming week, by following the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels where up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related (here in the UK) is posted on a daily basis (well, almost).

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
