UK Roku Official Channels - NEW "Themes" CATEGORY

Hi, everyone !!

Having made do with just eleven main categories in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store for the past three years - in fact, since Roku devices first launched in the UK back in January 2012 - we have now seen that selection expanded by two additional genres. The first of those is the "Themes" category and, following on from my listings for the eleven original genres, I'm now going to provide you with details of the various themes available under this new heading in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store.

Since this is a completely new category there are (as of the date of this post) only 8 themes available but, by it's very nature, this genre offers plenty of scope for developers (including Roku themselves) to provide Roku owners a huge assortment of backgrounds with which to add an individual look, not to mention a more "custom" feel, to their streaming media players. Given time, I'm sure this category will have plenty to offer and will no doubt prove popular with Roku users... assuming the price is right!

Speaking of which... there's (currently) no free themes in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store, despite two of them (i.e. "Game of Thrones" and "House of cards" themes) being made available completely free-of-charge to Roku owners in the USA although, with any luck, they will follow here in due course - perhaps when the new 'Roku 2' (Model 4205EU) launches on 30th May 2015?! If not, we'll just have to wait and see if any of the Roku developers come up with some free themes for us! Anyway, here's a (brief) look at what we've got for starters:-

01. Star Trek - The Original Series
02. Star Trek - The Next Generation
03. Fast and Furious Theme
04. The Big Lebowski Theme
05. Fish Fun Theme
06. Beach Palms Theme
07. Zen Theme
08. Golf Theme

The above themes bring the number of channels now listed to 1,589 from a grand total of 1,669 available in the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store and leaves us with just one more category for which we need to provide a detailed listing. So, if you'd like to discover exactly what are the 80 channels which combine to make up the "Travel" genre, you'll have to take a look at my next post!

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
