Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #144

Hi, everyone !!

Once again, I'm attempting to squeeze in two blog posts in one day on a Saturday, due to my having to update another of my channel store listings... the idea being that I will complete one per day throughout December, so as to be fully up-to-date before the festivities kick-in at the end of the month. Fortunately, as was the case last week, there haven't been many new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store during the past seven days... although, like before, there were lots of extra details for some of those we did get, and a couple of "missing" reviews which were not available from 'Roku Guide' at the time this post was first compiled. So, being (yet again) rather pushed for time, I'm going to have to maintain my recent trend of jumping straight into the list of new channel additions and then fleshing-out the Roku-related news aspects of the article and other "missing" details as and when I get chance. Anyway, without further ado, here goes:-

INDIEPORCH........................................................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "FILM & TV" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

OUTDOOR ACTION TV.....................................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "SPORTS" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

PLEASE NOTE:- That both the channel description from the Roku website and the 'Roku Guide' review of the "Outdoor Action TV" channel both reference "CarecoTV" in the links provided. This is not an error but a relic of the original title by which the channel was known at the time it was created. Since it was approved for inclusion in the "Official" Roku Channel Store under that name, the links will remain as provided here. Unfortunately, while the developer is able to change the name of the channel (itself) there is no facility for altering the link(s) which is why I have added this note... in an attempt to avoid any confusion over the links I've included above. Hope that clears things up! :-)

FOOD SNOT..........................................................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "FOOD" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

THE SERIAL BOX.........................................COST: £0.69 (MONTHLY) [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "FILM & TV" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

LYNDA.COM........COST: FREE (10-Day Trial) + £14.95 (MONTHLY) [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "EDUCATIONAL" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN RELEASED***

PLEASE NOTE:- That, although there is a 10-DAY FREE TRIAL available - VIA THIS LINK - through which to assess the benefits of the 'Lynda.com' channel from your own perspective, it is worth mentioning that A SUBSCRIPTION FEE WILL BE REQUIRED for those who opt to carry on with their membership beyond the trial period. That said, BOTH MONTHLY & ANNUAL PLANS ARE AVAILABLE should you decide to subscribe, with the various options outlined in the table below:-

If you'd like to see further details of the various pricing plans that are available for subscriptions to the 'Lynda.com' service, you can find them on the website - VIA THIS LINK - where the information is laid out in full. The following may also prove useful when considering a subscription:-

More precise details of the 'Features' included with each of the membership 'Plans' are shown below:-

You'll find lots more information about 'Lynda.com' on their website, including a dedicated page with details specific to their Roku channel - HERE - plus info on the various other mobile and/or desktop apps available - VIA THIS LINK - for those who'd like to extend their use of 'Lynda.com' beyond their Roku device(s) and the big screen. Meanwhile, details of the minimum system requirements as well as recommended settings for the various apps associated with 'Lynda.com' can be FOUND HERE.

SPHERESAVER...........................COST: £1.49 (ONE-OFF PAYMENT) [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "SCREENSAVERS" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN RELEASED***

PLEASE NOTE:- That the developer has made a short SphereSaver (YouTube Video) promotional trailer which gives a brief animated view of each of the FIVE DIFFERENT THEMES available with this 'SphereSaver' Roku screensaver (Bubbles, Spooky, Holiday, Micro & Sports) as well as illustrating the customizable aspects in which the size, count and speed of the "spheres" can all be adjusted. If you are wondering why I didn't include the video here... it's because, despite searching for "SphereSaver" and "Austin Sojka" (the 'YouTube' user who uploaded the video), the 'Blogger' video search function did not include it in the results for 'YouTube' videos when I tried to locate it using those terms. Even so, I recommend that you use the above link to watch the video promo because you'll get a much better idea of what to expect from this 'SphereSaver' Roku screensaver. My personal favourite is the 'Spooky' theme where the "spheres" look like floating "eyeballs"... but I couldn't help thinking "if only it had been ready in time for Hallowe'en" - oh, well... guess I'll use the 'Holiday' theme for now, instead! ;-)

WONDERFUL LIVING CHANNEL...................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "FILM & TV" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

IAMC TV.........................................................COST: £2.99 (MONTHLY) [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "FILM & TV" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

PLEASE NOTE:- That, due to the fact this 'IAMC TV' channel has yet to be added to the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store, there is (currently) no active link to a description on the Roku website, as would be the norm. Instead, the link provided (above) will redirect you to the official website for the 'IAMC TV' channel where further information about IAMC (International African Movie Channel) can be obtained. Likewise, there is also no 'Roku Guide' review for the channel at this time. Needless to say, if this situation changes at any time in the future, I will add the "missing" links to this post.

To give you some idea as to what this channel is about, in the absence of a review from 'Roku Guide', here is an overview pieced together from the 'About IAMC' section of the 'IAMC TV' website:-

International African Movie Channel (IAMC) is a digital television channel and a brand of Africa Media Consortium, LLC, a digital media firm with specializations in film/video production, digital media distribution, and web design services. Our mission is to showcase African themed content with high production value to Africans in the Diaspora, keeping them close to happenings back home. IAMC offers a selection of African movies and TV shows. Instantly stream any African movie or  TV series in our ever expanding library. Enjoy full episodes and clips, as well as premium subscription video programming and/or pay-per-view (PPV) content from African filmmakers and content producers.

If you wish to make use of the 'IAMC TV' channel you will first need to register, HERE, and then make sure you have added 'IAMC TV' to your Roku channel selection, before linking your Roku device to your 'IAMC TV' account, VIA THIS PAGE, in order to start viewing the content.

Meanwhile, for those of you who wish to "get social" with the folks at 'IAMC TV', there is an official Twitter Feed: @IAMCTV as well as their FB page: IAMC TV (Facebook) through which you can provide feedback and/or ask any questions about the channel which may not have been fully answered on their website. If you'd like to know more about Africa Media Consortium, LLC - developer of this channel - then I would suggest you either visit their website, FOUND HERE, or reach out to them through their FB page: Africa Media Consortium, LLC (Facebook) with any questions you may have.

CONGREGATION OF YHWH - JERUSALEM.................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "RELIGIOUS" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

*********************************************

Anyhow, like it or not, that is your lot for this week and, whilst it doesn't quite match-up to the twelve channels which made it into the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store during the same time-frame, it's better to have a choice of 9 NEW CHANNELS, as shown above, than none at all... don't you think?!

Either way, hopefully everyone in the UK with a Roku player managed to find something they like within the nine "public" channels outlined above... or else from the "private" channels, whose access codes were "gifted" to you via the companion Twitter Feed to this blog, at various points throughout the last seven days. That said, if you didn't find anything to add to your Roku channel selection from the assortment of channels on offer this week, you can always pay us a visit another time when, with any luck, there will be something more to your liking. Afterall, there's no point installing every channel because like I've said before... when it comes to adding more new channels to your Roku devices, IT'S YOUR CHOICE and, as with all things Roku... THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS!

*********************************************

As mentioned previously, you can expect my usual summary of all the goings-on (or not) in the (severely restricted) Roku Channel Store that features on NowTV Boxes to follow in the near future. Meanwhile, whether you happen to own a Roku player, a NowTV Box, OR BOTH, as I do... be sure to check my earlier posts (as mentioned before) for all the new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store in each of the seventy preceding weeks and then come back again in seven days' time for my next 'Weekly RoundUp'. However, if you can't wait that long, remember you can always keep up with all the UK Roku action (as it happens) throughout the coming week, by following the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels where up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related (here in the UK) is posted on a daily basis (well, almost).

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
