Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #152

Hi, everyone !!

As with the last few weeks, we have been fortunate to receive another decent crop of new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store during the preceding seven-day period. Consequently, I have (yet again) been extremely hard-pushed for time today and, with further details for all of the Roku-related news stories from the past week still to follow, I'm going to (once more) have to jump straight into the list of new channel additions and then flesh-out those other aspects of this article as and when I get the chance. That said, you can always look back over the information shared via the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels since my previous 'Weekly RoundUp was posted and you'll find most (if not all) of the news there.

Those who do make the effort will be rewarded with full details (including access codes) for some more "private" channels - i.e. those not found among the "public" offerings that populate the channel store on Roku devices - so, if you happened to miss them before, it's worth looking back through my recent tweets for some Roku treats! ;-) Meanwhile... getting back to the current crop of new additions (as listed below) not all of the 'Roku Guide' reviews were available at the time of publishing, so you're likely to come across some "missing" links (as in recent weeks) which I'll add to this post (in due course) once the details have been made known to me. Anyway, here's what we have so far:-

THE WEB DESIGN CHANNEL...........................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "EDUCATIONAL" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN RELEASED***

***FILED UNDER: "APPS" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

GEN7 OUTDOORS...............................................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "SPORTS" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

BECKY BUNNY.............COST: FREE (n.b. may require additional fees) [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "KIDS & FAMILY" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN RELEASED***

PLEASE NOTE:- That the 'BeckyBunny' channel (developed by Vego TV Inc) has an "Official" website - FOUND HERE - which is probably a better source of information compared to the main website of the developer 'Vego TV' (itself part of the 'Go China TV' company website) that appeared to offer no details specific to the 'BeckyBunny' channel. That said, I was able to determine that the developer has an office in California (USA) whose contact details (incl. full postal & email addresses plus phone / fax number) were freely available via their 'Contact Us' information - ON THIS PAGE - and are also shown below for your convenience:-

U.S. ADDRESS:
9925 Stevens Creek Blvd., Suite 100
Cupertino,
CA 95014

TEL / FAX:
+1-646-316-4609

EMAIL:

Those of you with an international calling plan may wish to telephone, in advance of adding this channel, to determine exactly what is meant by "may require additional fees" in relation to the 'BeckyBunny' channel on Roku devices, as mentioned in the channel store description. If you do so, the "+1" refers to the "Country Code" when calling the USA, so (to dial-out from the UK) this would require '001' followed by the rest of the number... '646-316-4609'. For those without an international calling plan, I would suggest making contact via email with any questions or concerns regarding the use of the 'BeckyBunny' channel from 'Vego TV' since it is likely to provide a more timely response than sending a letter to their postal address which I mainly included for the sake of completion.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE:- That the 'Roku Guide' review for the 'BeckyBunny' channel makes mention of a "one time purchase of $2.99" for access to their content library. However, I'm not sure whether the same fee will apply for UK Roku users and I would advise anyone interested in adding this channel to do a little research using the links and other information provided in this post before going any further, as I would normally expect such one-off payments to be made via an option to "buy" the channel directly from the "Official" Roku Channel Store on your device, which is not the case here.

RIVER TELEVISION NETWORK.......................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "RELIGIOUS" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

***FILED UNDER: "SPORTS" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

***FILED UNDER: "SPECIAL INTEREST" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN RELEASED***

COMPEL CHRISTIAN NETWORK.....................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "RELIGIOUS" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

***FILED UNDER: "NEWS & WEATHER" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN RELEASED***

THE SATURN RADIO NETWORK.....................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "COMEDY" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

GUMBY REMOLDED..................COST: FREE (n.b. may require additional fees) [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "COMEDY" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

PLEASE NOTE:- That, although the description of this 'Gumby REMOLDED' channel does state that it "May require additional fees", I feel this may be some sort of error (either on behalf of Roku, or else the developer themselves) because '8ctave ITV' who created this (and many other apps) for Roku devices produce all their channels under the mantra of "Full-Versioned & Free Forever". Couple that with the claim on their website - FOUND HERE - that "With Octave Wireless Cable TV, There's no Upcharge for HD Quality Channels. In Fact, there's no Charge for Anything. Ever" and the fact this channel is already ad-supported makes me feel it's unlikely there'll be any "additional fees". However, if you wish to reassure yourself before adding the channel, I would suggest you correspond directly with the developer - VIA THEIR CONTACT FORM - and obtain clarification. There is also the option to connect with them via their FB page at:- Octave Television (Facebook) or, if you prefer, their main (public) Twitter Feed: @OctaveTV or their alternate (private) Twitter Feed: @8ctaveHD

BIRMINGHAM MOUNTAIN RADIO.................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "MUSIC" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

CIBL 101, 5 MONTRÉAL.....................................................COST: FREE [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "MUSIC" in the Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

NATURE RELAXATION.............COST: FREE (7-DAY TRIAL) + $5.99 (MONTHLY) [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "LIFESTYLE" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN FIRST RELEASED***

PLEASE NOTE:- That, in addition to the 7-DAY FREE TRIAL OFFER and the monthly payment plan outlined above, there is also an option to pay annually for $59.99 PER YEAR which will save you a little money if you can afford to pay upfront in full for the service. Essentially, by paying the yearly subscription, it is equivalent to getting two months free! For further details, I recommend that you read the 'Roku Guide' review prior to starting your free trial and/or subscription. ;-)

SUSPENSE RADIO 365................COST: £1.49 (ONE-OFF PAYMENT) [Roku Guide Review]

***FILED UNDER: "SPECIAL INTEREST" in Roku UK Channel Store WHEN RELEASED***

*********************************************

Anyhow, like it or not, that is your lot for this week and, whilst it only amounts to around two-thirds of the twenty-nine channels which made it into the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store during the same time-frame, it's better to get 19 NEW CHANNELS than none at all... as I'm sure you'll agree?!

Either way, hopefully everyone in the UK with a Roku player managed to find something they like within the nineteen "public" channels outlined above... or else from the "private" channels, whose access codes were "gifted" to you via the companion Twitter Feed to this blog, at various points throughout the last seven days. That said, if you didn't find anything to add to your Roku channel selection from the assortment of channels on offer this week, you can always pay us a visit another time when, with any luck, there will be something more to your liking. Afterall, there's no point installing every channel because, like I've said before... when it comes to adding new channels to your Roku, IT'S YOUR CHOICE  as with all things Roku... THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS!

*********************************************

As mentioned previously, you can expect my usual summary of all the goings-on (or not) in the (severely restricted) Roku Channel Store that features on NowTV Boxes to follow in the near future. Meanwhile, whether you happen to own a Roku player, a NowTV Box, OR BOTH, as I do... be sure to check my earlier posts (as mentioned before) for all the new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store in each of the seventy-eight preceding weeks and then come back again in seven days' time for my next 'Weekly RoundUp'. However, if you can't wait that long, remember you can always keep up with all the UK Roku action (as it happens) throughout the coming week, by following the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels where up-to-the-minute info on all things Roku-related (here in the UK) is posted on a daily basis (well, almost).

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!
