Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #269

Hi, everyone !!

Having mentioned in my 'Weekly RoundUp' post from last week that, further to the suspension of my Twitter Account: @ukrokuchannels (as reported two weeks ago today), I was hoping to establish a new presence on social media by the time I wrote this post... I'm afraid to say my social media plans will have to remain on the back burner for (at least) two more weeks, while I continue to catch-up on the "missing" entries in the Roku UK Channel Store Listings from these pages. Of course, full details for the "missing" channels have all been published on 'Blogger' already (as part of my regular posts) but, since I'm still in the process of doing a complete "audit" to update the individual list(s) of each channel store genre (i.e. category) you will have to bear with me while I finish this task before they are searchable via the individual category listings. Needless to say, once all of the updates have been completed, I'll then turn my attention to restoring a presence on social media - meanwhile, stay tuned to this blog for further updates on that - but, with no other Roku-related news to share this week, I'm now going to get straight into bringing you details of all the latest new Roku channels (apps) which have been released during the seven days since my last 'Weekly RoundUp' post was published! :-)

Firstly, though, I'd just like to mention (on a not entirely un-related note) that I have now added links to some (though, still not all) of the 'Roku Guide' reviews that were previously "missing" for many of the new Roku channels released in the last few weeks... so, if you'd like to see an independent appraisal of those, be sure to check-out my post from last week (see link above), which (itself) contains a link to the previous week's post (and so-on, and so-forth), for details of where to find them. Unfortunately, there are (again) more "missing" links to the 'Roku Guide' reviews for every single one of the channels published during the last seven days... which means, much like many other posts from recent months, I'm going to have to leave it for each of you to (once more) access those details on your own. As of three months ago, you can choose to do that either via the built-in channel store on your Roku device(s)... or else, by following the links provided in each post to the relevant channel description(s) from the Roku Web Channel Store. Meanwhile, once the "missing" reviews have been published by 'Roku Guide', I will (as I have done previously) ensure that I add the relevant links to each post. Apologies (as always) for any inconvenience that may be caused by the absence of active links to an independent review for all of these new apps but, like I say, it was entirely out of my hands. Hopefully they will get a chance to catch-up on them sometime in the coming week!?! ;-) :-)

Still, back to the list... which, as always, will help you to identify the very latest apps that have been added to Roku devices in the UK. Other websites offering Roku channel listings will base their contents on the Roku USA Channel Store, which means they also include apps that are unavailable to UK Roku users. So, like I've said before... if you really want to know what's available channel-wise, for owners of Roku devices in the UK, you need to be reading this blog each and every week! ;-) :-)

With twice the number of active links to check out, not just for this week... but each and every post that has been previously published as part of my 'Weekly RoundUp' series over the last five years, there's a *lot* of reading to catch-up on. So, without further ado, here's my 'Weekly RoundUp' of all new Roku channels released between 29th April 2018 and 5th May 2018:-

Anyhow, like it or not, that is your lot this week and, while it doesn't quite amount to three quarters of the fifty-two channels which made it into the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store in the same time-frame, it's better to get 38 NEW CHANNELS than none at all... as I'm sure you agree!?! Just ask anyone who owns a NowTV-branded device since, like most weeks, they got zero new channels! :-O

In any event, hopefully everyone in the UK with a Roku player managed to find something they like within the thirty-eight "public" channels outlined above... or else from the "private" channels, whose access codes were "gifted" to you via the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels to this blog, at various points throughout the past few weeks. However, if you didn't find anything to add to your Roku channel selection from the assortment of channels on offer this week, you can always pay us a visit another time when, with any luck, there will be something more to your liking. After all, there's no point installing every channel because, like I say... when it comes to adding new channels to your Roku, IT'S YOUR CHOICE and, as with all things Roku... THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS!

*********************************************

As mentioned previously, you can expect my usual summary of all the goings-on (or not) in the (severely restricted) Roku Channel Store (aka "App Store") that features on NowTV Boxes to follow in the near future. Meanwhile, whether you happen to own a Roku player, a NowTV Box, OR BOTH, as I do... be sure to check my earlier posts (as mentioned before) for all the new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store in each of the one hundred and ninety-five preceding weeks and then come back again in seven days' time for my next 'Weekly RoundUp'. Hopefully, by the time I make my next post, I will have sorted out another (new) companion Twitter Feed to replace the now suspended: @ukrokuchannels account so there will still be a presence on the social media platform via which up-to-the-minute info on Roku-related matters (here in the UK) is posted on a daily basis!

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!

  1. Hi

Something you may like from Roku Support. Had to get in contact with them due to my remote not working. Told them I have the phone app but would like the real thing (Not the group), so they are sending me a whole new player not just the remote. How good are they. Only thing is got to send old one back. Will my account number know all my channel apps or do I have to add them in again? Have ask support but still waiting a reply. Take Care.

    1. Hi, Phil...

Nice to hear from you again! :-)

All the channels you added to your Roku account will be added to any subsequent device that is linked to the same account. If you only have the one Roku device at the moment, it might be wise to install the new player before removing the old one from your account - just to be sure that the installed channel list remains tied to the account while you set-up the new device. Before you install the new one, be sure to unlink your original Roku player from any accounts you may have with streaming services (e.g. Netflix, NowTV, etc.) by logging in to those accounts online and removing your Roku from the device list(s) associated with each service. Then, once the new player has been set-up, you should also make certain that the original Roku device is factory reset (to remove any personal details) and that you have definitely removed it from your Roku account by signing-in online to check that it is no longer displayed in your linked device list. The other thing to be aware of is that, although all of the apps associated with your Roku account will be installed on the new player... they will most likely be in a different order to how they appeared on the 'Home' screen of your original Roku device. This has always been the case for me, in the past, but if you use the 'Options' key (i.e. the star/asterisk button) of your new Roku remote to 'Move' the channel(s) around again you can re-order them as you like! ;-)

Hope the changeover goes smoothly! :-)

And, thanks (again) for reading the blog and taking the time to leave another comment - it's good to know people are sticking with it! :-)
