Roku UK Channel Store - Weekly RoundUp #270

Hi, everyone !!

Having already given us a heads-up back on 18th April 2018 that their first quarter financial results for 2018 would be coming our way on 9th May 2018, I'm pleased to say that the 'Investor Relations' department at Roku were true to their word and delivered their latest set of financial results news on time, as previously promised. I've no intention of picking the figures apart here so, if you're interested in that side of the company, I'll leave it to each of you to follow those links and crunch the numbers! Anyway, with no other Roku-related news to share this week, I'm now going to get straight into bringing you details of all the latest new Roku channels (apps) which have been released during the seven days since my last 'Weekly RoundUp' post was published! :-)

Firstly, though, I'd just like to mention (on a not entirely un-related note) that I have now added links to some (though, still not all) of the 'Roku Guide' reviews that were previously "missing" for many of the new Roku channels released in the last few weeks... so, if you'd like to see an independent appraisal of those, be sure to check-out my post from last week (see link above), which (itself) contains a link to the previous week's post (and so-on, and so-forth), for details of where to find them. Unfortunately, there are (again) more "missing" links to the 'Roku Guide' reviews for over ninety per cent of the channels published during the last seven days... which means, much like many other posts from recent months, I'm going to have to leave it for each of you to (once more) access those details on your own. As of three months ago, you can choose to do that either via the built-in channel store on your Roku device(s)... or else, by following the links provided in each post to the relevant channel description(s) from the Roku Web Channel Store. Meanwhile, once the "missing" reviews have been published by 'Roku Guide', I will (as I have done previously) ensure that I add the relevant links to each post. Apologies (as always) for any inconvenience that may be caused by the absence of active links to an independent review for so many of these new apps but, like I say, it was entirely out of my hands. Hopefully they will get a chance to catch-up on them sometime in the coming week!?! ;-) :-)

Still, back to the list... which, as always, will help you to identify the very latest apps that have been added to Roku devices in the UK. Other websites offering Roku channel listings will base their contents on the Roku USA Channel Store, which means they also include apps that are unavailable to UK Roku users. So, like I've said before... if you really want to know what's available channel-wise, for owners of Roku devices in the UK, you need to be reading this blog each and every week! ;-) :-)

With twice the number of active links to check out, not just for this week... but each and every post that has been previously published as part of my 'Weekly RoundUp' series over the last five years, there's a *lot* of reading to catch-up on. So, without further ado, here's my 'Weekly RoundUp' of all new Roku channels released between 6th May 2018 and 12th May 2018:-

That said, there is also the option to purchase individual films via their webstore on a Pay-Per-View (PPV) basis... although do be aware that some of the titles available for purchase are already available to watch without incurring any charge among the 20+ videos that are free-to-stream via this channel. As a rough guide, the film titles in their PPV catalogue range from $2.99 to $9.99 per video to watch. Should you require more information, I would suggest paying a visit to their official website online. Or, for those who would prefer to connect with them through social media, there is the option to send a message via their Twitter Feed: @GOproject or their FB page: Global Oneness Project (Facebook).

That said there are savings to be had, by those who choose to subscribe in the long-term, thanks to an ANNUAL PAYMENT PLAN in the order of USD $49.99 PER YEAR for those prepared to pay for a full twelve months upfront. If you do decide take the yearly payment option, it is equivalent to getting TWO MONTHS FREE over the whole term which might prove useful for some. There's a breakdown of the various categories for all videos included with subscriptions to this channel in the 'Roku Guide' review (see link above) but it's probably worth paying a visit to the official website to read the full Terms and Conditions (T&C's) plus their privacy policy, etc. prior to subscribing. PLEASE NOTE:- That, due to the fact this 'Elim Tamil TV' channel has not (yet?) been added to the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store, there is (currently) no active link to any 'Roku Guide' review of this app... meaning anyone who wishes to know more about it would be best advised to pay a visit to the official website of the Elim Tamil Pentecostal Church (Manor Park, East London) where there is a dedicated webpage for their 'Elim Tamil TV' ministry with additional information. As you might have already guessed, they also have a presence on social media... which means Roku users also have the opportunity to connect with 'Elim Tamil TV' via their official FB page: Elim Tamil TV (Facebook) if there are any questions still left unanswered from the aforementioned sources. Meanwhile, for those in other Roku countries and/or regions (outside the UK) who may not have access to this faith-based Roku app in their individual channel store(s) I came across the following access code online:-

AS BEFORE:- Please CLICK on the above image TO ENLARGE IT for easier viewing !!

There's no way of knowing (in advance) if this vanity code (5PG56L) will work for Roku users in other countries and/or regions but, since it was made publicly available through official sources, I saw no harm in mentioning it here so that those interested can (at least) give it a try! :-) Should attempts to use the code (outside of the United Kingdom) prove unsuccessful, there is also a 24/7 live stream plus a modest collection of on-demand content available for viewing via their official website online plus an official 'YouTube' channel that may be of use as a last resort for some Roku users, if needed! ;-) :-)

*********************************************

Anyhow, like it or not, that is your lot for this week and, while it doesn't quite amount to half of the fifty channels which made it into the "Official" Roku USA Channel Store in the same time-frame, it's better to get 23 NEW CHANNELS than none at all... as I'm sure you agree!?! Just ask anyone who owns a NowTV-branded device since, as with most weeks, they got zero new channels yet again! :-O

In any event, hopefully everyone in the UK with a Roku player managed to find something they like within the twenty-three "public" channels outlined above... or else from the "private" channels, whose access codes have been "gifted" to you via the companion Twitter Feed: @ukrokuchannels to this blog, at various points over the past months and years. However, if you didn't find anything to add to your Roku channel selection from the assortment of apps on offer this week, you can always pay us a visit another time when, with any luck, there will be something more to your liking. After all, there's no point installing every app because, like I say... when it comes to adding new channels to your Roku, IT'S YOUR CHOICE and, as with all things Roku... THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS!

*********************************************

As touched upon previously, you can expect my usual summary of all the goings-on (or not) in the (severely restricted) Roku Channel Store (aka "App Store") that features on NowTV devices to follow in the near future. Meanwhile, whether you happen to own a Roku player, a NowTV Box, OR BOTH, as I do... be sure to check my earlier posts (as mentioned before) for all the new additions to the "Official" Roku UK Channel Store in each of the one hundred and ninety-six preceding weeks and then come back again in seven days' time for my next 'Weekly RoundUp'. Hopefully, by the time I make my next post, I will have sorted out another (new) companion Twitter Feed to replace the now suspended: @ukrokuchannels account so there will still be a presence on the social media platform via which up-to-the-minute info on Roku-related matters (here in the UK) is posted on a daily basis!

Until the next time, then...

That's all folks !!

  1. Hi, Thanks for your help in setting up my new Roku. They sent me the Streaming stick plus, wow so fast. Better then the purple one. Setting up was so easy. Thanks again. Cheers Phil

    1. Hi, Phil !!

Glad to hear Roku looked after you and that the set-up of your new device went smoothly. I'm not surprised to see you comment on the difference in speed between the newer 4K-capable 'Roku Streaming Stick+' and the original (purple) 'Roku Streaming Stick' (HD version) because, from my own experience of the two, it's like night & day in terms of performance as well as generally being able to navigate the user interface (UI) more easily. In fact, it was the speed (or lack of it) when navigating the UI on the older (purple) Roku Streaming Stick which was my major bone of contention with it! :-/

As a result, these days it barely gets a look-in (much like our other earlier Roku devices) and we're more likely to take one of the latest models (i.e. 'Roku Express' or 'Roku Streaming Stick+') with us when we are on our travels... although, the 'Roku 3' devices we have continue to serve us well on the "spare" television sets around our home! :-D

Still no update on my future plans for a social media presence to accompany this blog, as I'm a bit bogged-down with other things at the moment, but I will let you know of any change in those circumstances once things improve.

Meanwhile, many thanks for your continued support! ;-) :-)
